The United States Department of Justice sued Texas over its new voting restrictions, claiming the newly imposed rules violate federal laws, such as the Voting Rights Act and the Civil Rights Act, Baku Tribune reports citing Breaking News.
The lawsuit takes aim at several provisions and not the entire bill that was inked by Governor Greg Abbott (pictured) two months ago. It targets parts of the law in question that prohibit officials from sending out unsolicited mail-in ballot applications to voters in the state and the one demanding absentee voters to provide an ID, amongst others.
"Laws that impair eligible citizens' access to the ballot box have no place in our democracy," said Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke.
The Rocket and Artillery formations of the Azerbaijan Army conduct live-fire exercises in accordance with the combat training plan for 2021, the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan told Baku Tribune.
