"We have never seen that Iran has held exercises on the border with Azerbaijan when those territories of Azerbaijan were under the Armenian occupation. When Azerbaijan has liberated its territories which were under occupation, Iran has attempted to seize a weapon. This once again shows that those military exercises bear provocative character. Scale of the exercises and mainly, the political tone in the statements of the official Tehran are not appropriate to the stability in the South Caucasus region. Iran, as a country owning to the centuries-old history, must perceive that in the first place, it must be guided by its own national interests and the world must not go with the manipulation of the Armenian lobby. Unfortunately, today, we observe this. I think that Lavrov has also delivered the position of Russia to his Iranian colleague regarding the importance of peace and stability in the South Caucasus. Because existing of the military confrontation in the region does not promise a good thing for Iran, " said I. Korotchenko.
