The presentation of the English version of the report "Azerbaijanophobia in Armenia: hate speech in the pre-war and post-war rhetoric of Armenians" was held at the Center of Analysis of International Relations on June 23rd.
The two-part event began with the presentation of the report and continued with discussions on the results of the elections in Armenia, Baku Tribune reports.
Dr. Farid Shafiyev, Chairman of the Center of Analysis of International Relations, who made the presentation, said that if we want to move towards peace, the problem of Azerbaijanophobia in Armenia must be resolved. According to him, despite the problems in both societies, Azerbaijanophobia has deeper roots in Armenia: "Azerbaijanophobia is not only observed in social media of Armenia, but also is a state-run policy. The mythological view of Azerbaijanis that has been formed in Armenia, in fact, in some meaning helped Azerbaijan to triumph the victory in the Second Karabakh War".
Speaking about the parliamentary elections in Armenia, Farid Shafiyev said that although the election results were a bit hopeful, it is too early to assess the policy of the re-elected government. The head of AIR Center said that the election results were more a choice of the Armenian people against the Kocharyan regime: "Armenians also chose to continue the reforms. Pashinyan's government does not mean democracy. If he speaks only about democracy for Armenians, it is racism. We must not forget that it was Pashinyan who ordered to launch rockets at civilians in Ganja at night".
Then the event continued in the form of questions and answers.
