British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said the United Kingdom hopes to "find a negotiated solution to the problems created by the Northern Ireland Protocol," adding that such a solution "still seems possible." However, he brought up the possibility of triggering Article 16, which would unilaterally suspend the deal, as a "perfectly legitimate part" of the protocol.

However, he brought up the possibility of triggering Article 16, which would unilaterally suspend the deal, as a "perfectly legitimate part" of the protocol, Baku Tribune reports citing Breaking News. If Article 16 is invoked, Johnson argued that "we will do so reasonably and appropriately, because we believe it is the only way left to protect the territorial integrity of our country, and meet our obligations to the people of Northern Ireland under the Belfast (Good Friday) Agreement." The UK and the European Union will continue negotiations this week.
