Biden: US doesn't support Taiwan's independence - Chinese media

United States President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping discussed "strategic and fundamental issues" during their virtual meeting, according to Chinese media. Biden also reportedly stated the US does not support Taiwanese independence in an effort to calm the recent tensions between Beijing and Washington over Taiwan. Xi warned China "will have to take decisive measures" if independence forces "cross the red line."

Biden also reportedly stated the US does not support Taiwanese independence in an effort to calm the recent tensions between Beijing and Washington over Taiwan. Xi warned China "will have to take decisive measures" if independence forces "cross the red line, Baku Tribune reports citing Breaking News. The meeting lasted for almost three and a half hours. Xi said the US and China "must go forward together and not collide with each other" and hoped Biden will show "political leadership" in restoring "rational and practical" bilateral relations. "China reaffirms its determination to expand high-level opening-up, share development opportunities with the world and push forward economic globalization to a more inclusive, balanced and win-win direction," Xi is quoted as saying by CGTN.
